Since 1981, recurring balls of light of unknown origin have been observed in Norway's Hessdalen Valley. The phenomenon has been scientifically recorded since 1998 by a permanent automated measurement station (Hessdalen AMS); its existence is documented while its mechanism remains unexplained.
